Night sweats (after workup)

Soaking night sweats plus fever or weight loss are B symptoms until you have thought about TB, HIV, endocarditis, and lymphoma. SSRIs, tramadol, and alcohol withdrawal sweat too. If the workup is bland and the picture is vasomotor, sage leaf is the traditional antisudorific (small menopausal file). Black cohosh is the vasomotor plant with a DILI file. Essential oil of sage is thujone.

Primary plants

Clinical notes

  • Fever + drenching sweats + weight loss is imaging and labs, not sage.

When this is not enough

  • B symptoms, endocarditis-range fever, new lymphadenopathy, hypoglycemia spells, thyrotoxicosis
