Segmental vs generalized, and thyroid autoimmunity, still matter. Narrowband UVB exists. EGb 761-type ginkgo has small RCTs on spreading vitiligo — mixed quality, bleeding is real. Do not combine ginkgo with phototherapy days if they bruise, and do not promise repigmentation. Face-sparing rapid spread in a child is dermatology.

    Ginkgo biloba

    Small human vitiligo trials (often 40 mg tid-type older protocols). Quality mixed. Bleeding.

    Typical. EGb 761-type product if used at all, with dermatology in the loop. Not roasted seed.

    Safety. Bleed, surgery hold. Not a phototherapy replacement.

    Wound/scar extract file sometimes borrowed for pigment-adjacent skin. Thin for vitiligo specifically.

    Typical. Topical extract as labeled if they already use it for scars.

    Safety. Rare DILI orally. Apiaceae.

  • Rapidly spreading childhood vitiligo, suspected chemical leukoderma, melanoma-associated depigmentation questions
