Genitourinary · also Cardiovascular

Erectile dysfunction (adjunct / warning)

ED is a cardiovascular risk marker until you look. PDE5 inhibitors have the outcome file; nitrates are the hard interaction. Yohimbe (alpha-2 antagonist) is in the catalog as a warning — HTN, arrhythmia, panic. Asian ginseng has some mixed ED trial data and insomnia/INR costs. Ginkgo is a bleed next to a future angiogram. This is not a reason to skip a lipid panel.

    Mucuna pruriens

Mucuna: L-dopa-containing. A Parkinson's-adjacent object, not an ED drug. Nausea, add-on to levodopa is a specialist problem.

Typical. Do not start it for ED.

    Safety. Nausea. Dopaminergic stacking.

Clinical notes

  • Chest pain on a PDE5, or a nitrate in the med list, is the interaction that matters — not ginseng.

When this is not enough

  • Unstable angina, nitrate use, priapism, sudden vision/hearing loss on a PDE5
